Omega 3-Essential Fatty Acids

Why does your pet need a healthy source of Omega-3 essential fatty acids?  Your pet needs Omega-3 essential fatty acids because dry, over processed pet food just doesn’t cut it in the vitamins and minerals arena leaving your pet with inferior pet food.

Since dry dog food is processed using high heat, the Omega-3 essential fatty acids get denatured.  In other words Omega-3 essential fatty acids along with other nutrients, gets destroyed during the heating process and must be added back to the food.  The problem with the added Omega-3 essential fatty acid is that the longer the shelf life of your dry dog food, the effectiveness of the Omega-3 essential fatty acids added deteriorates.  The synthetic versions of these Omega-3 essential fatty acids and other vitamins and minerals added back after the heating process are inferior.

What’s a wonderful way to help get Omega-3 essential fatty acids back in your pet’s diet, Sardines!  Sardines are the best way to add the long-chain Omega-3 essential fatty acids including DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) to your dog’s diet.  Sardines are a sustainable fish with low mercury loads and provide a highly-absorbable essential fatty acid.  They are an amazing source of protein and provide a complete range of trace minerals including iodine and natural forms of selenium, calcium, zinc, vitamin D, B12 and E.  Because the fish are consumed, bones and all, their mineral content is just amazing.  Omega-3 essential fatty acids can help with skin conditions, allergies, kidney function, lymphoma, heart disease, cognitive function, arthritis and much more.  What’s not to love?

Look for Wild Caught Sardines packed in water, not tomato sauce or oil, and add a filet to your pet’s kibble a couple of times a week.  Make sure you use the contents of the can within a week but once your pet gets a taste of this delectable snack, they may not last a day.  Have a couple for yourself too!

Always check with your veterinarian when adding new foods or supplements to your pet’s diet!

Have a fantastic day,
