Happy New Year everyone! I don’t know about you but I’m not sorry to see 2017 go. It was a rollercoaster of a year and even the last day of the year wouldn’t leave me alone, the alternator on my 4Runner died. But I’m bringing in the New Year with a bang or at least a pop and a 4Runner that runs!
“Less is more”. This is my newly adopted way of life. Do I really need 45 pairs of socks? I think 4 flannel shirts is plenty and shoes, no I don’t need 6 pairs of black heels. Oh wait, I don’t wear heels. This year I will let go of that which I no longer use or need and sell it or donate it. But yes I do need all of my 57 cookbooks! And they say diamonds are a girls’ best friend.
What on earth does this mean for my dog Guinness? He has tried acupuncture, healing touch for animals, massage, laser therapy, chiropractic care and natural remedies for his arthritis and joint pain. I did so many of these at once I couldn’t tell what was working and what wasn’t working and it was costing me big bucks. In the last month have backed off of the “too much” and utilized single therapies. It turns out that the things that worked for him were healing touch for animals and massage. Guess who does the Healing Touch for Animals? ME! The folks at Harmony Vet in Arvada do his massages. Not every therapy, technique or healing modality works for everyone; our bodies are different and may respond better to one therapy or another. The same is true for our pets. I will continue Guinness’ massage therapy and Healing Touch for Animals along with his natural remedies to help keep his pain manageable. I’m keeping his forehead kisses too. Funny though, healing touch and massage are my personal favorites too.
Try one thing and if it doesn’t seem to help, try something else. There is something for everyone and every pet. Remember to see your veterinarian for health care options and treatments for your pet.
