What I Know About Healing Touch for Animals

December 2016 was quite the month.  Guinness had dental surgery on December 8th and I learned so much about my dog and myself in the weeks to follow.  The most important thing I learned is that he is a fighter, just like his mom.

After his dental surgery, Guinness had a neurological reaction to one of the medications he was taking.  He would stand in the living room and sway.  He paced and was completely unsure of where he was or what was going on.  It broke my heart to see him like this.  He would look at me with confusion as to say, I don’t know what this is and I’m scared.

The worst of the worst began to happen, Guinness’ appetite diminished down to nothing.  I could not get him to eat anything.  I cooked everything for him; eggs, oatmeal, chicken, rice, sweet potatoes, beef and nothing would entice him.  Guinness would usually sit at my feet for every meal hoping for something to drop; now he lay on his bed so weak and tired from all of the month’s events.  I was at my wits end and Christmas was coming, a busy time for my pet sitting business.

Almost two weeks had passed and Guinness had not eaten much more than a few tablespoons of peanut butter or a couple of bites of whatever I made for him.  Then I had my ah-ha moment.  I called my friend Shelley and ask if she could help.  Shelley is a Healing Touch for Animals practitioner and was willing to help with Guinness’.  We scheduled an appointment for the following day and she went to work.  During his session he was relaxed and content.  About 15 minutes into the session Guinness got up and walked over to me.  He sat down and looked right into my eyes.  I asked him, ‘are you hungry?’  Two tail thumps.  This was the most activity I’d seen from him.  He walked over to his bowl, I filled it with some of the food I had made and he ate everything.  His appetite has not wavered since and he found his place at my feet for every meal once again.  I wonder what would have happened if I had never called Shelley.  I try not to think about that.

I learned a lot that day.  I learned that we are more then what we see.  We are energy beings, we are light and we are love.  Our animals know that too.
